Lisa Bachman

STAFF MEMBER
STEERING COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

Staff Member Lisa Bachman is responsible to lead all internal operations at the Holocaust Center including the exhibits, programs, education, marketing and communications. Lisa’s favorite thing is spending time with her family. She is a devout advocate for anyone who dealing with bullying, suicidal issues and Tourette Syndrome. She enjoys spending time with her husband of 35 years and traveling to see her 3 children who live up north. Lisa is also co-chairing the marketing and administration subcommittees.

STEERING COMMITTEE CO-CHAIR

Board member Marc McMurrin is the Executive Director of the Ginsburg Family Foundation and a graduate of University of Central Florida. He has been a part of the Central Florida community for the past 30 years. Marc has been a board member of the Holocaust Center for the last three years. He is the steering committee chair for the Take Action Institute (TAI) and a member of the capital campaign committee for the new Holocaust Museum for Hope and Humanity. Marc has a big vision for TAI and the annual conference associated. Marc is a convener of relationships and resources in order to benefit our Central Florida community.

Emily Curran

VOLUNTEER
STUDENT TASK FORCE LEADER

Emily Curran is an intersectional feminist studying sociology, data analytics, and gender studies at Rollins College. She has been engaging with the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center as a volunteer through the Bonner Program for the past two years. Leading the Student Task Force at the Take Action Institute is her newest role with the Center. Emily believes in the strength of student activism and is excited to work alongside such a powerful team to create a more just society. On campus, she is a member of the varsity swim team and the Student Support Foundation. Emily is passionate about social issues relating to poverty, mobility, and care and hopes to enter into a PhD program in sociology upon her graduation in 2022. For fun, Emily enjoys making yummy vegan food and sharing meals with friends.

Malika Harrison

BOARD MEMBER

Board member Malika Harrison is Director of Social Responsibility for the Orlando Magic. With more than 15 years of experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropy, communications, public relations, and business strategy, she currently leads the Magic’s community relations, employee volunteering, disaster relief, cause marketing and civic engagement. She also oversees the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, including strategic grantmaking and fundraising.

John Rick Schell, PhD

BOARD MEMBER

Board member John Rick Schell, PhD, holds appointments as Professor of English and as Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at UCF. Formerly at UCF, he served as the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Vice Provost, and the Chief of Staff to the President. He has been a member of the Holocaust Center Board since January 2020.

Rachel Luce-Hitt

STAFF MEMBER

Staff member Rachel Luce-Hitt is responsible for providing strategic leadership for school and community education programs including UpStanders: Stand Up to Bullying. She is charged with creating experiences that help people make the connections between lessons learned from the Holocaust and issues facing our world today. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys working on her Jewish and Filipino genealogies, traveling, baking, and
spending time with family.

Carmen Dominguez

BOARD MEMBER

Board member Carmen Dominguez is a custom home builder.  Carmen is the Past Co-Chairperson of Project Hometown and Transportation Task Force, Past President Home Builders Association (GOBA), Woman of the Year 2007 Orlando Business Journal, Professional of the Year Orlando Business Journal 2007.  She  served in several Boards including  Orlando Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Initiative Fund, Hispanic Task Force for Commissioner Tony Ortiz (founding member).  She was born in Puerto Rico and has been a resident of Central Florida for 42 years.

Stephen Poynor

STAFF MEMBER

Staff member Stephen Poynor is the Resource Teacher at the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida. His position is a joint venture between Orange County Public Schools and the Center. He helps teachers and schools to implement the Florida mandate for Holocaust Education (F.S. 1003.42) through collaborative teacher training, direct student instruction, and curriculum design. 

Toni Turocy

BOARD MEMBER

Toni Turocy is an attorney at the law firm of Kubicki Draper in Orlando, Florida.  Her primary areas of practice include general liability, premises liability, automobile negligence, and first party insurance coverage matters.  Prior to joining the Board of Directors at the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center, Toni served as Co-Chair of the Holocaust Remembrance Committee for several years.  Toni has also previously served as a Guardian Ad Litem in Orange County, as well as been active in the American Cancer Society raising money for breast cancer research.  In her free time, Toni enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with family, especially her husband and one-year-old daughter.

Kathy Turner

STAFF MEMBER

Staff member Kathy Turner is responsible for all fundraising initiatives, strategic plans and development staff. Her focus is on building key relationships and securing major gifts to achieve annual philanthropic goals. Kathy currently serves and volunteers at Grace Church. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Ball State University and two master’s
degrees from the University of St. Francis in Health Administration and Business Administration. She also has two children, Kamryn and Mason.

Lauren Nelson

STAFF MEMBER

Staff member Lauren Nelson serves as the Major Gifts & Grants Officer, supporting philanthropic efforts for the Holocaust Center’s programs, exhibits and operations, as well as the capital campaign for the new Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity. An active member of the community, Lauren is a board member for AFP Central Florida and Valencia Horizon Scholars, and she is an active member of Florida Executive Women. Lauren holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from University of Central Florida, bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Elon University, and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). She is also an instructor with the Edyth Bush Institute at Rollins College, and an adjunct faculty member at University of Central Florida.

STAFF MEMBER

Kayla  serves to provide patrons with engaging exhibits, speakers, and workshops, and she provides support for community and educational outreach. Kayla believes education and community involvement provides valuable opportunities for individuals to learn, advocate, and challenge social injustices. Kayla is passionate about the study of history, which drove her to pursue a Master’s in History with a focus on psychological war trauma and gender. While pursuing her Master’s, Kayla was presented with the opportunity to travel abroad to work in several museum archives, which has inspired her to help preserve individual stories of the past to inform the present and future. During her free time, Kayla enjoys reading, traveling, playing with her cat Triss, and learning to cook new things.
